The Watering the Seeds of Change Capital Campaign raised more than $1.2 million to fund a new drilling rig and drilling equipment, vehicles and a pilot sanitation project. The $500,000 budgeted for the new drilling rig was raised by middle school students participating in the Iron Giraffe Challenge.
As a result of WFSS’s operations team’s vigorous due diligence we have come in way under budget – allowing for the purchase of two rigs for under $400,000! A new rig mounted on a truck, our new “Iron Giraffe,” and a smaller rig mounted on a trailer have been ordered. The small rig will be used as back up for the large rig and for training drilling team staff. The money saved will purchase vehicles needed for our rehabilitation team, launched in 2017.
